Gabby's Story

My name is Gabby. I'm a two-year-old Labrador retriever mix.

Gabby Rescue Dog Progress Photo

I was wandering around rural South Carolina when animal control picked me up and took me to a high-kill animal shelter. I was so scared. What’s worse is that I was suffering from a bacterial skin infection, which immediately put me on the euthanasia list.

Then the nice people from All 4 Paws saved me. They had a veterinarian take a look at the infection on my head, which was causing wounds and hair loss. After a skin scrape that produced negative results, they suspected I had a bacterial skin infection from an unknown source. The diagnosis: superficial pyoderma, which looks bad and feels even worse.

The veterinarian gave me one injection of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium), and the infection healed in one week. Now I have all my hair back and look and feel so much better—giving me the best shot at finding my forever home.

CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium).

I was so grateful to be taken in by Save a Life Pet Rescue, Inc. in Oviedo, Florida. I was just a playful, tiny puppy - weighing only 12 pounds - when they saved me. But I had lots of red bumps all over my belly and around my eyes. My eyes were swollen and the hair on my stomach was gone. It was a bacterial skin infection that needed to be treated ASAP.

Then they gave me one shot of CONVENIA. Soon the swelling around my eyes disappeared. And not long after, all my belly fur grew back. Now I'm the happy, sweet puppy that I was meant to be. CONVENIA cleared up the infection and gave me a better shot at adoption.

I was a stray roaming the streets of Arkansas for weeks when Fayetteville Animal Services took me in. I was underweight, with fleas and ticks, and my skin was thickened, inflamed and red. The veterinarian diagnosed me with superficial pyoderma.

When I first got to the shelter, I wasn't too crazy about anyone touching me. But it didn't take long for me to see that these were good people and I really warmed up to them. It had been a long time since I'd had a hug.

They also knew exactly how to help me. They cleaned me with an antiseptic and gave me one shot of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium), and my rash healed within two weeks. By three weeks, I had my hair back. Just a few days after that, I found a home of my own! I'm one grateful pup.

 Simon's Story

My name is Simon. I'm one lucky beagle mix.

I was a frightened puppy wandering the streets of Arkansas when Fayetteville Animal Services came to my rescue. Boy, I was one sorry stray! My ribs were showing, my skin was crusty, and I was covered in fleas. I also heard the vet say I had pustules...whatever those are. They diagnosed me with superficial pyoderma, which can't be good.

Luckily some smart people were taking care of me. They cleaned me with an antiseptic, gave me one shot of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium) and my skin healed in just two weeks. Then one week after that, I was adopted! I'm the happiest puppy in the world.

 Hang Ten's Story

My name is Hang Ten. I was found with four of my siblings.

Hangten Rescue Dog Progress Photo

I was a huddled with my brothers and sisters when the nice people from the Humane Society of Charlotte found us. We were just a bunch of puppies left to fend for ourselves. We were in pretty bad shape. I had a bad case of Demodex (a type of mange) and a secondary infection on my face. This caused my skin to be inflamed, bumpy, and...well...a little smelly too. The veterinary staff at the shelter gave me the usual treatment—oral antibiotics and antimicrobial shampoo—but it just wasn't helping.

That's when they tried a shot of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium) along with a topical solution. Two weeks later, they rechecked the infection. It was almost gone and I was on my way to finding a forever home.

 Honey's Story

Hi, I'm Honey, a young pit bull terrier.

Rescue Dog Honey's Progress Photo Rescue Dog Honey's Recovery Photo

My owners surrendered me to Austin Pets Alive! because I had bad skin and fur loss. I didn’t understand why I was no longer in my comfy home with my warm bed. But the folks at APA were so nice. They said I had something called Demodex, which are tiny mites, along with a severe bacterial and fungal skin infection. Because of all those skin problems, I was placed on the euthanasia list.

The scabbing and open sores were especially bad on my face. In fact, 25% of my skin had scabbing and hair loss. There was swelling of my lower limbs and face. I was red all over.

Then they gave me CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium) to treat my bacterial skin infection along with other medications to help with yeast, pain and swelling. After two CONVENIA treatments, 90% of the skin infection was gone! And in even better news, I was adopted! I’m so happy to be back in a comfy home with my warm bed.

 Jazz's Story

Hello, there! I’m Jazz, a pit bull terrier mix in Rustburg, Virginia.

Jazz Rescue Dog Progress Photo

I was wandering around the streets of Rustburg—just a tiny pup all on my own. The Humane Society for Campbell County took me in. They knew I was a special case when they saw what most likely was a horrible chemical burn all along my back.

They cleaned the burn wound and wrapped me up so I wouldn’t scratch or bite at it. It was clear that I was in pain—the burn looked to be several days old and it was infected.

Then, I was given an injection of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium). You can see from my pictures that my wound looked better in just 1 day. Within 30 days, I made a complete recovery! You can just see a scar on my back, which my new owner obviously doesn’t mind too much. That’s right, I was adopted! I’m so grateful that I healed quickly and now have a loving home of my own.

 Bella's Story

My name is Bella. I’m a young Jack Russell terrier mix.

I wasn't sure what I had done wrong, but the kind people at Humane Society of Greater Savannah said my owner just could no longer afford to take care of me. Thankfully, they could. They performed a skin scrape to see what was going on with my scabby and irritated back.

They diagnosed me with a severe flea allergy and a secondary skin infection. All of this had caused me to lose more than half my fur.

That's when CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium) came to the rescue! Just five days after a single CONVENIA injection, you could see a huge difference in my skin—the scabs and redness were gone. They even put me in a beautiful pink sweater (pink is totally my color). And two weeks after the infection was treated with CONVENIA, you could see that much of my hair had grown back. It didn’t take long before I was adopted and placed in my forever home.

 Daisy Mae's Story

I’m Daisy Mae, and I’m a young mixed-breed dog.

Due to space issues, I left one shelter to go to the Humane Society of Pinellas. I’d definitely seen better days. I had acute moist dermatitis (hotspot) on my right hip. The Humane Society folks thought it was from a bacterial skin infection and allergies.

I received an injection of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium) and I felt like a new dog in just eight days! The moist areas dried up, my hair began to grow back and I was healthy and happy. I heard old treatment for hotspots can take a lot longer. Good thing they have CONVENIA now. I’m a lucky dog! And speaking of lucky, after I had healed they found me a new home. No more shelters for me!

 Lisa's Story

Hello! I’m Lisa, and I’m an adult mixed-breed dog.

Lisa Rescue Dog Progress Photo

Not to get too sad, but I was found abandoned and chained up to a doghouse. The chain was embedded in my neck, and I had a really bad bacterial skin infection. Some nice animal officers rescued me and took me to McKinley County Humane Society.

After removing the chain and cleaning my wound, the Veterinary Technician gave me a shot of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium). Wow! My wound healed fast, and it wasn’t long before I was adopted into a really nice family. I may have had a rough start in life, but now I’m living the dream.

 Daisy's Story

Hello, world! I’m Daisy, and I’m a young Chihuahua mix.

Rescue Dog Daisy's Progress Photo Rescue Dog Daisy's Recovery Photo

My previous owner was a hoarder, like you see on TV. There were a bunch of us Chihuahuas living together when the house caught on fire. We were rescued and taken to The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas. I had abrasions and hair loss all over my neck, tail and paws. I also had really bad patches of irritated, red skin.

They weren’t sure what was causing my problems. They tried giving me antibiotics and pain medicine, but that didn’t do the trick. Then they gave me a different antibiotic, a shot of CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium), and within a week my condition started to improve. I was also one happy Chihuahua. And now I’m with a rescue group waiting for just the right family to take me home.

 Camper's Story

Hi, I’m Camper, an eight-year-old male Lab mix.

I was attacked by another dog and my owner couldn’t afford to take me to the veterinarian, so they dropped me off at the Yavapai Humane Society. I had some really bad (and painful) bite wounds on my legs. The nice people at the shelter cleaned my wounds and put me on antibiotic pills and pain medicine.

When they checked the wounds seven days later, they noticed pus coming from some of them. They tested the discharge and saw bacteria. Gross! They gave me CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium), and soon the nasty pus was gone. And in less than two weeks, all of my wounds had completely healed. Do you want even better news? I‘ve been adopted! You could say I’m one happy Camper.

 Balto's Story

Hi, my name is Balto, a pit bull terrier mix puppy.

Balto Rescue Dog Progress Photo

When I arrived at the Young-Williams Animal Center, I had some really serious issues with my skin. The inside of my legs and lower tummy were absolutely covered with itchy red spots. It was terrible!

Luckily, they had CONVENIA® (cefovecin sodium). It goes to work right away and helps heal severe bacterial skin infections — which is exactly what I needed. Just look how quickly it healed me! You can see from these photos that the infection was cleared in just 14 days. Now I’m happy and healthy. So healthy, in fact, that they were able to put me up for adoption. Now I have a new family! Thank goodness for CONVENIA.
